Native American Blankets Art Activity for Kids
Native American Blankets – Art Activity for Kids
Native American Artists use thick and thin lines in their woven blankets and learning about thick and thin lines is important for Kindergarten – 2nd Grade Artists.
So why not combine the two!
I developed this great lesson to help my Kindergarten Artists learn about thick and thin lines in a fun way. I also added a few elements to make this lesson have an integration of Math, Social Studies, Art History & Culture, as well as, Art Criticism! A lot of variety in one great lesson.
This lesson has 5 worksheets with it, to help introduce the idea of thick and thin lines in Native American Blankets. The first one has the students practice the difference between thick and thin lines, the second has them designing their own blanket with thick and thin lines, the third introduces the idea of artists finding inspiration from nature and the fourth is the Social Studies aspect introducing Native American Life. The fifth worksheet is an Art Reflection that has Art Criticism and Math elements.
The first 4 worksheets all lead up to final project. A painted Native American Blanket using thick and thin lines.
