Save Money Making Your Own Taco Seasoning

Did you know you can make your own taco seasoning?
And Save Money!
The price of store bought taco seasoning – about $1.29 for a one ounce package.
The price of all of the seasonings for this recipe – about $7.00 for 7 bottles of 2-3 ounce size.
Now you may be thinking $7.00 is more than $1.29 – right?
But I calculated out how much taco seasoning you can make out of 7 bottles of spices and the cost difference.
All 7 bottles of spices contain 14-21 ounces of powder – so out of that amount of powder you could make 14-21 packages of taco seasoning. We’ll average that out to about 18 packages – cost my way $7.00 – buying from the store $23.22.
Making your own taco seasoning saves you about $16.22!
Taco seasoning on sale for $.89? – you still save $9.02!
I can think of a lot of things I would rather spend this extra money on – how about you!
Ingredients
3 tsp. chili powder
2 1/4 tsp. cumin
2 1/2 tsp. paprika
1/8 tsp. oregano
1 1/2 tsp. onion powder
1 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
Mix all together in a small airtight container and store in cupboard.
This makes a small batch that equals really close to 2 whole packages of store bought. You can easily double to equal 4 packages of store bought. And then you still have enough spices leftover to make more!
Please note: by buying one bottle of each spice you will not be able to make 18 packages – as some ingredients are used in a greater amount. For example, you will have to buy chili powder more often – but you will have the bottle of cayenne pepper for quite a while. Thanks and enjoy saving money!
