I used up all of my body scrubs that I made this summer and wanted to make another using the fresh spearmint from my garden, before winter kills it!
All of my other scrubs lasted for 2 months sitting on my bathroom counter, without being refrigerated! What a bonus, they may have lasted longer, but I used them up! See my other recipes…Spearmint Rose Petal Body Scrub, Strawberry Lemonade Body Scrub and DIY Brown Sugar Honey Foot Scrub.
I was in a pinch to make some more and had to come up with a recipe using limited ingredients, pantry empty and garden dying…boo hoo.
Spearmint with its antiseptic properties pairs nicely with the lovely lemon scent in this new homemade body scrub.
1/2 cup white sugar
4 tbsp. coconut oil Viva Naturals Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, 16 Ounce)
about 7-9 leaves of spearmint – chopped
(don’t have spearmint leaves – try using Spearmint Oil – 1 OZ (100% Pure and Natural) from NOW)
3-5 drops lemon essential oil (NOW Lemon Oil, 4-Ounce)
Put into a container and you are ready to use to exfoliate your tired body parts. Just rub into your skin– rinse with warm water and towel dry. That simple. Great for using on your feet or hands or anywhere!
The recipe makes more than enough for a few uses. This should allow for at least 12 applications – depending on how many body parts you exfoliate! Remember you can refrigerate or leave on your bathroom counter. My scrubs last at least 2 months sitting out with no refrigeration (results may vary).
Keep for yourself or give as a gift!
I love the idea of making my own body scrubs because they use ingredients you already have in your pantry or garden and because every ingredient in it is all natural – no weird things that you don’t know what they are or how to pronounce them!
